"Linux Bible, 2008 Edition: Boot up to Ubuntu, Fedora, KNOPPIX, Debian, openSUSE, and 11 Other Distributions"

Procedures described in that chapter let you
either install a desktop system from binary packages or build much of the Gentoo operating system
from scratch, specifically for your computer hardware, downloading needed packages from the
Internet.
Freespire 2.0
Freespire is the free, community-driven Linux system that is sponsored by Linspire, Inc. (makers
of the Linspire commercial desktop Linux system). The Freespire 2.0 CD is included on the DVD
that comes with this book. The Freespire CD can be run in several different ways. You can either
run it as a live CD or start an installer to install the contents of that CD to your computer??™s hard
disk. Freespire also lets you launch the gparted utility from the boot prompt so that you can change
your computer??™s hard disk partitions before installing Freespire.
Instead of booting the Freespire CD directly from the DVD that comes with this book, you need to
burn the ISO image included on that DVD to a separate CD. Here??™s how to do that:
1. Insert the DVD that comes with this book into your computer??™s DVD drive.
2. From the Freespire folder on the DVD, copy the freespire_2.0.3.iso to your computer??™s
hard disk.
3. Eject the DVD and insert a blank CD into the DVD drive (which presumably can be used
to burn CDs).
