"Linux Bible, 2008 Edition: Boot up to Ubuntu, Fedora, KNOPPIX, Debian, openSUSE, and 11 Other Distributions"

Even though you can always nudge a game
into working on your particular Linux distribution, it??™s probably easiest to start with games that are
ready to run. The following list provides information about where to find out about games packaged
for different Linux distributions:
Fedora??”Much of the recent increase in Fedora games has come from the Fedora Games
SIG (Special Interest Group). You can check out that SIG??™s activities for information on
other games of interest that have not made it into Fedora at http://fedoraproject
.org/wiki/SIGs/Games.
Debian??”Debian games resources are listed at the DebianLinux.Net wiki. Visit the
games section at http://debianlinux.net/games.html.
Ubuntu??”The Games Community Ubuntu Documentation page offers some good information
about available games and gaming initiatives related to Ubuntu (http://help
.ubuntu.com/community/Games).
Gentoo??”Visit the Gentoo Games project at http://www.gentoo.org/proj/en/
desktop/games/index.xml to select games that are of interest to you that run in Gentoo.
Slackware??”While GNOME and KDE games run fine in Slackware, not a lot of gaming
resources are particular to Slackware. However, because Slackware contains a solid set
of libraries and development tools, many open source games will compile and run in
Slackware if you are willing to get the source code for the game you want and build it
yourself.
