(See Chapter 7 for further
information on disk partitioning.)
Erase entire disk??”This erases your entire hard disk, and then repartitions it automatically.
Choose this method if you are prepared to remove all the data on your hard
disk. Ubuntu installer will repartition using common Linux file system types.
Use the largest continuous free space??”This allows you to install Ubuntu on a system
on which another operating system is already installed, as long as you have sufficient,
unallocated space available on your system??™s disk(s). Chapter 7 explains how to
repartition an existing system in order to free up space for this option.
Manually edit partition table??”This enables you to manually create your own hard
disk partitions. This is the best choice if you want to keep existing partitions from
being erased. This is also the best choice if you have special needs, such as creating
separate partitions to hold user data (/home) or server data (/var), or using a particular
file system type for an area of your hard disk. Manual partitioning is considered to
be a more advanced skill.
If you selected to manually edit the partition table, proceed to the next step. Otherwise,
skip ahead to Step 11.
10. During the manual partitioning phase, you can graphically select or resize existing partitions
on your disk and specify a variety of information about how you want to use them
