This is your last chance to exit before erasing your disk
and installing packages! Select Install to reformat your hard disk and install Gentoo. The
installation process will take a long time to complete. In fact, it could take a very long time!
20. Finish installing. Close the installer after you see the Install Complete! message.
21. Exit and reboot. Select to log out, and then choose to reboot the computer. After the system
shuts down, remove the live CD and reboot the newly installed Gentoo system.
At this point, you can use the emerge command to add additional software packages to your
installed Gentoo system. See the ???Getting Software with emerge??? section later in this chapter.
Starting Gentoo Installation from a Minimal CD
Here are the minimum computer requirements for a Gentoo installation using the minimal install
procedure described in this chapter:
 1.5GB of hard disk space
 256MB of RAM
 A 686 processor (or better)
 256MB of swap space
If you have a slow processor, consider getting precompiled packages because the full compilation
process can take a long time.
Use the CD that comes with this book, as described in Appendix A. With this CD in hand, here??™s
how to install Gentoo on your computer:
1. Insert the CD. Insert the CD into your computer??™s CD or DVD drive.
