This technique, while simple, is understood by all contemporary browsers. However, it??™s
not perfect. For Flash files in particular, it leaves a few accessibility problems unsolved,
including the following:
If an older version of the Flash plug-in is installed, or if there is no plug-in present
at all, people will not see content. They might even see an ActiveX install dialog,
which can be confusing for the less savvy user.
The tag does not actually exist in the HTML spec, so it invalidates a page.
While most browsers understand it, standards perfectionists will cringe at its use.
Because of the Eolas patent dispute from 2003, users will have to click the content
in order to interact with the multimedia file.
