2.3 Tell Them What You Want (Figure 10.6)
1. Agree the structure and contents of requirements specifications. Identify and agree the modeling
approach to be taken. Incorporate this in a standard possibly with a template.
2. Agree the requirements gathering, identification, definition, and sign-off process. This must
include a guarantee of availability of key customer, and supplier staff for requirements gathering
purposes. Incorporate this in a development process model.
3. Agree the structure and contents of design specifications. Incorporate this in a standard. This is
part of the insurance in the event of backsourcing.
4. Write, review, and agree the requirements specifications and SLA for testability, consistency, and
sufficiency. Check the SLA against the metrics plan.
5. Agree the supplier test approach. This will include the standards, tools, and environments to be
used. This will be added to the development process model.
