??? Obtain or maintain certifications to various standards (typically ISO 9000).
In doing this it will:
??? Monitor the processes and metrics the company uses.
??? Help refine and standardize them.
??? Conduct audits, issue audit reports and ???close??? audit issues.
As far as the internal quality assurance function is concerned, the test processes are just another set to
be monitored. They will want to know:
??? How you are organized.
??? How you relate to other stakeholders in the processes.
??? What you plan to do.
??? How you model or otherwise describe your activities.
??? What evidence you generate.
??? How you report your results.
??? How you support elements of (say) ISO 9000.
They may repeat a (set of) test(s) you ran, in an effort to see how thorough it was and if their results
were any different to yours. They will usually follow some issue (chosen at random) through from start
to finish to see that a process works. To prepare for them, look at the things you mostly do and ensure:
??? You have all your principal processes modeled or otherwise described.
??? You can provide evidence of all those processes working.
??? You can explain how the tools support them.
??? You can relate the processes both to the company standards and the standards used by the
certification bodies through which the company is certified.
They may catch you out and create an ???observation??? that some process is not working as it should.
