"Manage Software Testing"

5.13 Responsibilities
Identify the groups responsible for:
??? Managing, designing, developing/fixing, preparing, executing, witnessing, and checking
??? Providing the test items and the environmental needs: the group may include the developers,
testers, operations staff, user representatives, technical Support staff, data administration staff, and
quality support staff
These may alternatively, be specified in the project plan (see Figure 8.9).
8.5.14 Staffing and Training Needs
Specify test needs by skill level. Identify training options for providing necessary skills. Alternatively, this
may be specified in the project plan.

8.5.15 Schedule
Identify the overall test schedule and major test milestones as well as any major item transmittal events.
Define any additional test schedule and milestones needed. Estimate the time required to do each
testing task. Specify the schedule for each testing task and test milestone. For each testing resource (that
is, facilities, tools, and staff) specify its periods of use.
Use a scheduling method such as a PERT or a Gannt chart. Keep it updated. Use a project planning tool.
8.5.16 Integration Tree
This is a definition of the order in which the software will be integrated. It usually applies only to safetycritical
or mission-critical systems. The integration will normally be specified in steps. Each step will
conform to some identifiable feature such as all operator inputs accepted or all scheduler functions.
