These may involve passing transactions to a separate (possibly legacy) application or fulfilling them
directly. Servers need to be upgraded so ensure you have a means of testing a server upgrade before it
is returned to use. These too need to be unit tested.
5.5.4 Bank Application Tests
A key part of any site is the integration of the site with one or more credit or debit cards or other payment
service. The steps vary as the service but are generically:

1. Create a
project plan
to define the major activities, tasks, dependencies, dates, and resources
required to produce the deliverables to implement the service within the merchant??™s environment.
This will include:
a. A schedule for interim checkpoint reviews of the project plan
b. Selection of a
Merchant Server plug-In
(MPI) software supplier
c. Identification of an MPI implementation location, at the merchant, payment service provider,
or acquirer locations
d. Installation, integration and testing of the MPI
e. Development and agreement of dispute resolution procedures
f. Obtaining merchant password, URL of the production card issuer server and card issuer root
certificate
g. Changes to server configurations, DNS, routing tables, firewalls, procedures, and operational issues
h. Production rollout details

Identify an MPI software supplier
by assessing the MPI software??™s compatibility and integration
requirements, with the merchant??™s existing software.
