Complaints Questions
Testing could never repeat their bugs. Did you change the test environment? Do the testers have scripts which enabled
them to repeat the tests? Are the scripts detailed enough to permit this? (Some
managers attempt to destroy testers??™ reputation by driving one build after another onto
the test environment regardless of whether the previous build was completely tested.)
Testers are not supposed to help debug even when they write unit tests. Their
responsibility stops when they can demonstrate a bug at will, given a limited
number of attempts.a
Testing gave poor feedback or were no
help in debugging.
Testing??™s view of a bug was arbitrary. Do you have a bug classification scheme? Can you demonstrate this arbitrariness
on 6 bugs? (This is really a sign of poor management. No tester should raise a bug
unless they can repeat it given a number of attempts.) Do you have a sufficient
baseline against which they can test?
More bugs were found by the users
than the testers.
Assuming that the testers were allowed the time, specifications and tools they
needed to test with this is a very serious accusation.
Testing doesn??™t read or understand the
functional specifications.
Assuming that the specifications were available to the testers in a timely manner
and in readable format this is a very serious accusation.
