This book is dedicated to the late Marvin Lamond Burlison. Marvin was
my Uncle, my friend, and a true Telephone Pioneer. He provided me many
insights into the business of telecommunications based on his 41 years of
service at Southwestern Bell. He spent his Thursdays during his retirement
volunteering at the Telephone Pioneer Store and Museum at Bell One
Plaza in Dallas, Texas, and continued serving his community through the
charitable work of the Telephone Pioneers as well as his church. Marvin
taught us all leadership, humility, and loyalty both to his company and to
God. We miss him dearly.
